Flavoured
milk is
an extra sweetened dairy product
made with pasteurized
milk, sugar, added
colourings and
natural or artificial flavourings.
It is usually pasteurized using ultra-high temperature treatment, due
to which it holds a longer shelf-life than ordinary milk. Flavoured
milk
offers the same high nutrient-rich diet as pasteurized milk and can
help in improving overall diet.
Nowadays,
kids are in a big calcium-crisis. They don’t get the
recommended-daily servings of milk products. Flavoured milk comes to
the rescue because children prefer them to the ordinary milk. The
best part is that according to various researches and studies, the
kids who drink flavoured milk regularly don’t have higher intakes
of added sugars or fats than the children who consume white milk.
Furthermore, it is recognized that the small amounts of sugar added
to nutrient-abundant foods, such as flavoured
milk,
may increase a person's intake of food, thus improving calcium intake
without contributing towards extra calories.
Increased
consumption of aerated drinks, desserts, sugar-coated jellies,
candies largely contribute towards the increased fat- intake from
added sugars whereas its clinically proven that intake of flavoured
milk gives all necessary nutrients like potassium, calcium and
magnesium and prevent additional fat-deposits inside the body. Recent
surveys says that about 80 percent of the pasteurized milk, we
consume these days are extracted from the injected cows. Whereas
flavoured milk is being processed many times during the manufacture,
and is free from injected viruses and bacteria. Since milk cannot be
shelved for a longer period, flavoured milk is the best alternative
which contains all the benefits of milk.
